District Governor Bob Siemienowicz - Visits Club Mixer

June 1, 2022

District Governor Bob Siemienowicz
Bob Siemienowicz, 7870 District Governor, was our club guest on Thursday, May 12. He shared with us the latest surge in Rotary fund-raising projects. Our district has been able to underwrite several important medical advances for Ukrainian refugees and the homeless due to the devastation created by the bombardment of Russian military.

Funds raised by the district have been used to purchase equipment and to treat Ukrainian children with cancer and multiple sclerosis. This donation was also used to fund housing for the parents of these children, all of whom were displaced by the Russian forces. The difficulties facing Ukrainians and those who are asking to help them was explained by an anonymous doctor as he described experiences of the day: "During the last 12 hours, 3 time bomb alerts were announced, 4 Russian missiles were shot down by our air defenses and the wreckage fell into the yards of nearby residential areas."

Efforts by District Rotarians have been directed to providing medical supplies of Kyiv, food for Odessa, and the care of refugees in Czestochown, Poland.
