Meet Art Groux - Bennington Rescue Squad Executive Director

October 1, 2020

Art Groux
Art Groux grew up in Hooksett, New Hampshire. He was an only child. His father was an accountant and general manager for a car dealership and his mother was a growth forecaster for the phone company, back when everyone had land line telephones.

Art went to Manchester High School and went on to attend the University of New Hampshire and American International College and finally settled on Springfield College where he got his bachelor's degree in Emergency Medical Services Management.

He has a wonderful wife of 28 years and three children. Their oldest is a graduate of RPI, married and working in Eastern Massachusetts. Their middle child is a graduate of Westfield State University married and working in Las Vegas. Their youngest is a senior at American University in Washington D.C.

Art started working in October 2019 and moved to Bennington in January 2020, He likes the beauty of Bennington and that the people of Bennington are so friendly. In his spare time, Art enjoys the outdoors, mountain biking and hiking. He and his wife also spend time restoring the log home they bought in town.

Art joined Rotary because he had always seen Rotary as an organization that lent support to all aspects of life in the community. In Connecticut Art had been to the Rotary to speak many times and was also a guest at many of their meetings. Because of their schedule and that he had three school age children, it was difficult for him to join. It is different now.

As a member of Rotary, Art is hoping to give back to the community. There are many groups and people in the community that could use some support. When people work as a group their help is amplified. He would also like to help bring in other business leaders with the same desire.
