District Governor - Steve Puderbaugh

Steve Puderbaugh spoke to the Bennington Rotary Club on July 31 via Zoom. Angel Balch, the Assistant Governor for our area, also greeted us via Zoom. Steve is from the Raymond Area Rotary Club which is about three hours away and Angel is from the Deerfield Valley Club which is closer. Steve advocated hybrid meetings which we have started having. He noted some of the positive ways our club works and stressed that clubs need to interact and share good ideas, He also spoke about one of the goals during this year which is to invite new members. To help this effort there is going to be a district wide membership contest which he discussed along with sharing information about the various grants available. There is also a Speaker's Bureau which makes a wider group of speakers available.

Steve grew up in Des Moines, Iowa. He attended Iowa State University where he received a BS in microbiology and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. He and his wife Deb founded Raymond Animal Hospital in Raymond, New Hampshire in 1985. Steve and Deb have two daughters, Krista and Laura.. Steve was an assistant governor in 2002. He was asked to serve as the District Foundation Chair from 2003 to 2006.Later he was chair of the district grants committee. He then became chair of the Student Exchange Committee after being a team leader for a GSE team to Australia. He and Deb are Paul Harris Society members.

When Steve was in Pakistan on a National Immunization Day for Polio Eradication, he came up with the idea of Climbing Everest to Eliminate Polio which raised an estimated $80,000 dollars for Polio Plus. He also initiated an international grant to send medical supplies to a children's hospital in Lagos, Nigeria.
