District Grant

August 1, 2020

Co-president Dana Rozycki reported that the Bennington Rotary Club has been awarded the district-level grant that it applied for to provide the SVHC Foundation with a large shipment of personal protective equipment to meet some of the hospital's needs.

The total amount that Rotary will provide is $4,529. $1,294 will come from the club, and $3,235 will come from matching funds under the Rotary District 7870 Covid-19 Global Grant Program. This will completely pay for 5,000 new masks for the hospital.

In the original grant application, the club had also applied for additional funds to be directed to the VT Food Bank. The district received many more applications than they had anticipated, so it was unable to allocate these additional funds, but were able to fully fund the club's core request.

This is a great example of how Rotarians can have a tangible positive effect in our community: partnering with the district to leverage their resources and fulfill Rotary's core tenet of "service above self."
