Tom Lenkowski
After ten years away, Tom is back in Bennington. In those years Tom was Chief Financial Officer at Martha's Vineyard Hospital for four and half years and for the rest of the time he was CFO at Speare Memorial Hospital in Plymouth, New Hampshire.

During that time he and his wife kept their home in Bennington. At first it was because she was still in Bennington working. While he was on the Cape, he would come home on weekends. However, when he moved to Plymouth, she did as well.

Tom joined the Rotary club in Martha's Vineyard. In Plymouth he didn't because the club met on Wednesdays for breakfast and he had a conflict. When one is new in a community, Rotary is helpful in developing contacts and making friendships. For someone who works in an office all day, it is good to get out and see what is going on. It keeps you informed and is also a good way to give back to the community through working on projects. Rotary always has wonderful projects to work on.

At the Vineyard, the meetings were similar, but the projects were different because of the locale. Also on the island there is a lot more turnover than in Vermont.

Now that he is back in Bennington, Tom is back on the Oldcastle Board as treasurer. He is looking into becoming a guardian ad litem like Doug Krause. Rotary committees that interest him are Scholarship and Public Relations. He is interested in The Garlic Fest as he grows a couple hundred cloves each year.

He also has many ten year projects to be done. He is working on his garden, fixing the stone wall, painting, nothing urgent just things that had been put aside. He would also like to play more golf.

One thing about having more time when you retire is that you don't have to take time away from work for Rotary. Tom is pleased to see that now that his children are grown, they also are working in their communities as he has done.

Tom is happy where he is in his life right now.
