Congressman Peter Welch's Visit

On February 22, Congressman Peter Welch visited the club and gave a talk. Club members were delighted to welcome the Congressman and his assistants. We were pleased that they joined us for lunch. Former State Representative Alice Miller also joined the group. All went according to schedule. Then Sergeant at Arms Ted Bird fined the Congressman for a comment he had made the last time that he visited about our singing of Happy Birthday. The Congressman had noted that we sang the way they legislated. The Congressman paid the fine graciously and without comment.
