Interact Update

April 2, 2018

When I signed up to advise the Interact Club, I was warned that the winter months slow down significantly. However, though there was a brief lull after the holidays, I have to say I am so impressed with how many events this community holds that our Interacters are asked to be a part of! Here is what we've been up to for the last couple of months:

On February 24th, several students hung outside in the cold at Price Chopper to collect donations for the Stuff the Bus event and collected 1,400 lbs of food for the local pantries!

On March 4th, the Catamount Rotary Club held their annual pancake breakfast fund raiser and many students attended. They assembled and sold flower bouquets, helped set up and break down, and served food at the St. Francis Parish Hall.

Over the weekend of March 9-11, 8 or 9 students volunteered their time at Prospect Mountain for the National Snowshoe Championship. Several students attended both Saturday and Sunday, and two students – Gabe Niles and Austin Buttle – even got permission from their teachers to miss school on Friday to help set up the course so they were there all three days. The race director was very grateful for all the help; the students helped ensure the event ran smoothly.

In between those larger events, students also attended a basketball game to run the boosters club as a fundraiser for our program, and regularly help out babysitting at Monument Elementary's monthly PTA meetings.

We have a lot more coming up for March and April and will be sure to update you on all the events!
