Meet Jon Springer District Governor

November 1, 2017

Jon Springer
Jon is a native Vermonter, born and raised in the Windsor area. Jon graduated from the Central Missouri State University in law enforcement. He spent the next twenty years in law enforcement including being chief of police in Ludlow Vermont. He went to Vermont Law School, graduating in 1987 and started practicing law in 1988.

Jon and his wife, Mary have three children, five grandchildren and two great-grandsons. They live in Reading Vermont. He was first a member of the Ludlow Club for two years, but left it when his work as a consultant took him all over the state. He looked at the Rotary as an organization that did good in the community. He has been a member of the Windsor Club for twenty-four years where he has served as president, treasurer, and been on the Board of directors for twenty years.

Jon joined Rotary because he has always had the philosophy, if you live and work in a community, it is important that you give back to it. His club has been outstanding in their service projects for the community, helping generally, but the Youth Exchange Program is a particularly fine example.

At this point Jon felt that he could do more as a District Governor. It has been a challenging year, but a wonderful experience. He has yet to meet a Rotarian he doesn't like. They are all different, but all committed to service

One of his priorities for his year as District Governor is to increase membership. He has challenged all the clubs to an increase of at least one member a year. He has a district award based on various activities such as having a joint meeting with another club. Another is to increase membership of women.

A suggestion Jon has for retaining new members is to ask them what service project they would like to do, assuring them that the club will support them as needed.
