Meet Marshall and Cindy Hudson-Knapp

April 1, 2017

Marshall grew up in Bennington and Cindy grew up in Union Springs on the Finger Lakes in Central New York. They met in San Francisco at Cindy's uncle's house. Marshall had been staying with Cindy's uncle while he went to school at Lone Mountain College. When Cindy arrived to start college, Marshall said she stole his room, but he got her instead. His last semester at Lone Mountain was Cindy's first.

They met in late August and were married the following June. They have been married for forty-three years. Marshall started graduate school at Berkeley and got student housing. Since Cindy was still a student at Lone Mountain College, she had to take a two hour bus ride to the college. They graduated together in 1975 from their different colleges.

Marshall was called to serve a church in the Northeast Kingdom. They were there for five and a half years. Their daughter Naomi was born while they were there.

Marshall was then called to a congregation in Fairhaven. They moved when Cindy was six months pregnant with their son, Moses.

Their son Moses is now a nurse at Rutland Regional Medical Center. He is married and live in Poultney. Their daughter, Naomi, lives in Los Angeles and is an art specialist at Evergreen Community School

Cindy went back to school to get her master's degree in education at Castleton University. She got a job teaching art at Mill River High School in Clarendon. She was there for 25 years. Marshall was 35 years at the church. Cindy retired in June, 2015 and Marshall retired in July 2016. They have a house in Pownal and are involved with environmental issues. They also have been studying their family history for forty years. Marshall remembers when he was growing up, his father bringing him to Rotary. They look forward to working with others in Rotary.
