The Bennington Rotary Club is pleased to welcome Jon King as a member. Jon is the manager for this area of Osterman Propane. This is a small family owned company which has ten branches in New England.

Jon live is Hadley, Massachusetts , which is about an hour commute to his office in North Adams. The company has a propane plant on Benmont Avenue. The company started serving the Bennington area about four or five years ago. It has turned out to be Jon's biggest delivery area. The Bennington business started as half a day once a week, with one guy, but now it is every day, sometimes requiring two or three workers delivering propane gas.

Jon has a long day, getting up at five am and not getting home until seven or eight at night. . You do everything and you are everything when you are the smallest branch, including taking calls in the middle of the night. Not surprisingly, winter is their busiest season. This time of the year, you worry about people's furnaces and if you can get to their tanks. It slows down around April first.

Jon graduated from the University of Massachusetts in 1989. He majored in business. He has worked at Yankee Candle as Logistics Manager, He was the Trucking Manger for Roadway Express for ten years. He has been with Osterman for six years.

He doesn't have much free time. He mows the lawn or shovels snow and takes care of his two dogs. As a single man, he is also dating someone. He likes boating and has an 18 foot and a 26 foot boat. He keeps them at the Oxbow Marina.

Jon joined Rotary because he wanted to give something back to the community and this is the place where he works the most. So far, he is enjoying himself and is impressed by how active the club members are. He is looking forward to working on committees. He wants to help out with the Spaghetti Supper and the Car Show among other events and activities.
