January 1, 2017
Each year, the president of Rotary International selects a theme for the year that guides the activities of Rotarians and makes them aware of the mission of Rotary in its communities and throughout the world.
Each month also has a theme. Starting the new year, it makes sense that January's theme would remind Rotarians to make people aware of Rotary and what it does. Throughout the year, our club makes members of our community aware through press releases, our Facebook page, our unique website and our programs on WBTN. For one of those programs, a member from the club goes on the morning show and talks about an aspect of Rotary. This month it will be Ted Bird, talking about the Rotaract Club we wish to start. We also have our weekly talks recorded on WBTN.
We also need to remind people of this year's presidential theme of Rotary Serving Humanity. Rotary does this in so many different ways from its commitment to eliminating polio to its Clean Water for the World projects to what it does in local communities.
