Meet Larry Roberson - CPA

May 3, 2016

Larry Roberson
Larry and his wife, Emma Fay, moved to Bennington in April 2015 from Lockhart, Texas. They live on East Street with two dogs and are happy with their move.

They have been married for forty-one and a half years, most of that time in they lived in Texas. Larry grew up in Austin when Austin was a small town. Both of them were born in Austin Texas. In 1979, they moved from Austin to Lockhart.

Larry has been licensed as a CPA since 1978, As such, he worked in industry, in government, in private business. He was also a nursing home administrator for eight years towards the end of his career. He retired last year.

Larry and his wife have three children who are now scattered all across the country. Their daughter, Emily, who is a nurse and her husband, who is an attorney, moved to Athens, New York. Their oldest boy is Dodd who lives in Portland Oregon. Their younger son, Derrick lives in Lafayette, Louisiana. When Emily had two sons, Larry and Emma decided to move East when he retired to watch them grow up, rather than just see them on two or three visits a year,. The two grandsons are Daniel who is seven and Nathaniel who is three. Larry and Emma Fay get over to see them about once a week.

Although he still has some clients in Texas, Larry has quickly become involved in Bennington. He is on the Board of the Bennington Rescue Squad. He and Emma are involved in the Second Congregational Church and they volunteer at the Veterans Home and are involved in the RSVP group.

Besides reading which he loves, Larry has visited some state parks. The Vermont scenery is beautiful and so different from what they had in Texas.

In terms of Rotary, Larry wants to be a worker bee. He was a member of Kiwanis for many years where he helped build ramps for the disabled. He wants to help out where he can to contribute service to the community.
